3736 12TH STREET NE

Location

Brookland is best known for its churches, beautiful green space, and ever-growing arts scene. One of the neighborhood’s most expansive residents, Catholic University of America, was established in 1887. Brookland has earned the nickname “Little Rome” and is home to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land of America, and many more churches and chapels.

Aside from its religious havens, one of Brookland’s newer additions is the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market. Lined with the galleries and studios of local artists, this creative sanctuary is a great place to see artists at work. If you’re looking to add a little culture to your home, the galleries open most weekends and the Arts Walk is also host to a seasonal farmers market.
