Real estate with proximity and access to Rock Creek Parkway comes with a higher price tag, but for the next three years it might also come with a traffic headache. The National Park Service will be closing sections of Beach Drive for repairs starting as soon as Sept. 22. That’s this week!

The first segment will be Beach Drive from Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway NW to Tilden St NW, starting this week through Spring 2017.

Each segment of Beach Drive will be closed for in both directions 24/7 during work. Work on four segments will last three years.

The good news is pedestrians and cyclists will continue to have access to paths during daylight hours.

The National Park Service has more information on closures and created an online alert system for news about the project.
